ACCESS-3DP is a transnational project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The project aims at taking Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) as a new, disruptive technology under the umbrella of Advanced Manufacturing in order to set out frameworks to train and upskill workers in the craft and creative industries.

It is implemented by 5 different organisations in France, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain.

Who can benefit

Crafts industries and traditional sectors in the EU are facing the challenges coming from abroad competition. They are required to innovate their business by adopting new technologies and applying digital transformation in order to increase competitiveness.

Advanced Manufacturing (AM) technologies are adoptable by relatively traditional sectors. However, they require a high level of technical skills, together with creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial approach to exploit the capital (in terms of tools and machines) to the maximum.

Creative industries are core elements of the EU economy. Creative workers are talented and flexible with a range of core capacities that can be developed and improved naturally via practice and lifelong learning.

Craftsmen from furniture, shoes and any other sectors, creative industries’ professionals and VET students can benefit from the ACCESS-3DP project by inter-connecting via new, powerful AM technologies.

Why 3DP

Additive Manufacturing (also known as 3D printing) is one of the most promising technologies under the umbrella of Advanced Manufacturing, identified by the European Commission as one of the Key Enabling Technologies (KETs).

At the same time, Advanced Industrial Robotics (AIR) is slowly emerging for small and micro enterprises. Just like AM, AIR is a transversal technology requiring investment and knowledge on design and software, bringing crafts closer to the market’s needs by customising batches.

AM is an important asset in the European Union, responsible for driving research and innovation.
